About the event
'Queerbait', a short, erotic thriller, was conceived, written and directed by Nate Gualtieri, a transmasculine writer-director, based in Los Angeles. His credits include the Sundance 2024 Special Jury Award-Winning feature DESIRE LINES, a narrative documentary starring Theo Germaine and Aden Hakimi.
The film was produced by Dirty Films (aka Cate Blanchett and Coco Francini), and Netflix, under the umbrella of the program 'Proof of Concept'. P.O.C. was launched in 2024 at the Cannes Film Festival by Blanchett, Francini and Dr. Stacy L. Smith (USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative). It 'is designed to accelerate the path to large-scale filmmaking for directors who give voice to the perspectives of women, trans and non-binary people. The program [has so far provided support for] 10 filmmakers to make a short film that is “proof of concept” for a feature film or television project.'
